The Client

Verisure is the provider of the most widely installed home alarm in Europe. With more than 1.5 million customers and 6,500 employees worldwide, they are number one in Europe and growing fast in South America. With a future-proof platform and exciting, professional service partnerships, they are able to offer customers a unique range of home alarm and connected smart home products and services.

The Challenge

Verisure Innovation wanted a change in strategy for their mobile application on iOS and Android. They needed to make a shift in technology to be able to get new features out faster to their current 350,000 users, as well as get a Windows Phone version of the application developed. Verisure Innovation were in need of help with making this technology shift, for both application wise and knowledge wise to be able to move their senior iOS and Android developers to modern front-end/web-developers.

The Solution

Creating a hybrid application that meets the needs of today and future smart phone platforms was a two-step process. The first step was to develop a Windows Phone application built on hybrid technology and thereafter move the iOS and Android versions of the application.

We provided a team with frontend developers on-site to develop the Windows Phone application. Almost 95 % of the code is shared; the applications share the same offline web application so updates can be pushed out to the user without going through App Store, Windows Store or Google Play making it possible for Verisure to quickly send out updates to their users. Techniques used by the nine person strong team where HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Objective C, C#, Java.

Knowledge Sharing

During the development of the iOS and Android versions, focus was on raising and coaching the developers on working with hybrid applications.
